When Bobby Lea qualified for the 2008 Beijing Games, he solidified another chapter in his family’s Olympic legacy . His brother, Syd Lea, made the Special Olympics as a cyclist in 2007 & 2011, earning ten gold medals, and is a 2 x INAS World Champion. Lea’s father was an Olympic rower at the 1964 Tokyo Games. His mother has been a longtime USA Cycling board member.

With two appearances at the Olympic games, Bobby Lea is headed for Rio in 2016. Lea has 30 National titles, 4 Pan Am Games titles, and secured a Bronze medal in the 2015 scratch race at the World Championships. Lea was the only American to qualify for 1 of only 18 coveted Omnium starting positions during the London 2012 Olympics. Lea and his teammate from Beijing are the only Americans ever to compete in the Madison at an Olympic Games.
